Jingyi Lyu

“Hello everyone, I am Jingyi Lyu, doing master’s in education here at the University of York.

I am honoured to participate in the election of Vice President Academic and contribute to the academic development and welfare of all postgraduate students.

Effective communication is the key to success in the academic field. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and hosting, and I have excellent interpersonal skills. I am confident that with all the experience, I’m capable of providing more opportunities for academic exchange for all postgraduate students; also, due to the exposure to the various disciplines during my time in pre-master school, I developed the ability of critical thinking, which will help me to integrate different perspectives and methods into academic exchanges in different fields.

As a student at the University of York, I am aware of students’ challenges and needs. Knowing to listen to the voices of postgraduate students and provide them with the resources and support they need is essential. I am passionate about academic innovation and sustainable development.

To work as a Vice President of Academic:

1. I will actively advocate for sustainable research initiatives and encourage innovation and sustainability.

2. I will organize diverse academic activities, including theme lectures, academic seminars, art exhibitions, etc., to meet the interests and needs of different postgraduate students.

3. I will establish an educational assistance platform allowing postgraduate students to share resources and experiences. A professional mentor team will support this to establish connections between mentors and postgraduate students and provide guidance to postgraduate students.

Finally, I hope to gain your support and trust. If I were the Vice President of Academics, I would prioritise postgraduate students’ interests and development so that there would be more opportunities and achievements in our academic community.

Thank you!”
