My experience

Hi, my name is Cytherea Shen and I am currently studying for MA in Social Justice and Education.I am running for the position of GSA Academic Vice President for the 2023/2024 academic year. I have three years of teaching experience and one year of departmental management experience in an educational institution. I have a great passion for how to support academic (EDI) equity, diversity, and inclusion for PG students.

Why me?

Being the bridge between international students and the university. I am an approachable and friendly person who communicates well; As an international student, I will be able to practically understand the needs of students and help them through their studies and campus life. I always listen and I know indeed international student matters, which means that I take the initiative to find out and care about what’s going on with international students.

My aims:

I know that lack of academic engagement of some international students in Seminar also have negative impact on home students and I will be the bridge to connect international students and home students.

Focusing on the feedback of students’ assessments, improve the quality of academic feedback in terms of students knowing how to improve for next assessments;

Focusing on Exceptional Circumstances Affecting Assessments in terms of ensuring that as many students as possible have a fair opportunity to take the assessment;

Improving Self-certification and provide easy guidance for students to use;

Fully prepared for Industrial action in terms of protect students’ rights.
