APPEAL FOR DONATIONS FOR REFUGEES IN CALAIS

The winter is approaching and unfortunately there are still many displaced people across the continent in need of help. Students and staff from the University of York, volunteering with grassroots groups From York With Love and Friends Helping Refugees , have organised a collection of items urgently needed in Calais.  Please see below for a list of needed items and – if you can – bring your donations to one of the collection points at:
* GSA office (Vanbrugh College, 1st floor)
* Department of Education Reception (Derwent College, Block M)
* Derwent College Reception (close to D-Bar)
* Berrick Saul Building (Reception on ground floor or kitchen area on level 2)
* ReCSS (social space, level 2)
* Wentworth College Reception
ITEMS URGENTLY NEEDED

• MENS CLOTHES is SMALL sizes, especially jogging bottoms and hoodies/jumpers in good condition and NEW underwear;
• WINTER ESSENTIALS: scarves, hats, gloves
• WARM COATS and sturdy SHOES/BOOTS
• BLANKETS, SLEEPING BAGS, ROLL MATS and TENTS, EMERGENCY FOIL BLANKETS
• CANNED AND DRIED FOOD: rice, oil, tomatoes, chickpeas, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, spices
• TOILETRIES: toothpaste and brushes, soap bars, razors, wet wipes, toilet rolls
• TORCHES, BATTERIES
• PHONES WITH CHARGERS

Please bring your items by 12pm on Thursday the 19th of October.  Your kind donations will be transported by Yorkshire Aid in late October to Help Refugees warehouse in Calais and will be distributed to the many displaced people currently in the area.
