Megan Woodward

Summary of current role
I work part time for the GSA supporting Chelsey with Student Voice and Representation. We help support the Officers and the postgraduate community to create the changes they want to see.

Previous experience
I worked for University of Leeds for three years after graduating from my masters, first in Student Support and then in Student Success. As a Faculty Student Success Officer I was responsible for analysing student outcomes data and designing interventions to help the university meet the aims set out in its Access and Student Success Strategy. Some of my bigger projects included Peer Assisted Learning and Peer Led Study Skills, a Mature Student Network, managing a small team of Student Engagement Interns and inclusivity guidance and training for academic staff. I left that role to become a full-time PhD student at York; I’m undertaking a project entitled ‘Children and Childhood in Contemporary British Dystopian Fiction, 1992-2021’.

Fun information
As a PGR in the Department of English and Related Literature, I am a big reader. My favourite writers include Kazuo Ishiguro and David Mitchell (not the comedian!). I’m a big music lover and especially enjoy going to watch live music – the best gig I’ve been to was the Flaming Lips in Manchester. I’ve recently started playing board games and I’m also currently partaking in my first D&D campaign, which I’m really enjoying!
