Summary of current role
My role is Student Voice and Representation Manager and I work full time at the GSA! My role primarily focuses on support of our Officers and Postgraduate students to make change here at the University of York. We do this in a variety of ways but to keep it simple here are some of the highlights: – Elections – Associate Council – Academic Representation
I recently joined the GSA in February 2023. Previously, I held roles focusing on Representation & Democracy at Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union and worked as the Elected President of Leeds Trinity Students’ Union for 2 years. I now use that experience to mentor our Officers and support them in campaigning, creating policy and improving the wider student experience. I originally began teacher training at Leeds Trinity University and realised that I had a keen interest in Higher Education, leading me to pursue a career in Unions & Universities.
I love sports and currently compete for a Rotherham based Cheerleading Academy. I love to try new things and have experience playing Rugby, Ice Hockey and Badminton. I spend most of my spare time with friends and family, playing games or at Cheer training. My friends joke that I’m currently on a “Yorkshire Tour” as I have now lived in Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield & York!
