GSA Sports Sessions
The GSA provides completely FREE sports sessions in a number of different sports. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just want to try out something new, the GSA free sports sessions are the place for you. If you’re interested in taking part as a student, you can join our facebook groups by clicking on the names of the sport below, or simply by turning up at the times listed.
Weekly Sports sessions
Every Monday, 5:30pm-6:30pm, Hall 2, York Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Tuesday, 4.40pm – 6pm 2 courts available, 5pm – 5.40pm – 1 court available, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Thursday, 5.00pm -6.00pm, 2 x courts in arena 1, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Thursday, 5.30pm-6:30pm, Hall 2, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Saturday, 11:00am-12:00pm, Hall 1, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Saturday, 1:00pm-2:00pm,3 x Tennis Courts, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Every Sunday, 7:00pm-8:00pm, JLD Pitch, Sports Centre, Heslington West
Our inclusive atmosphere means that sessions are student led and can be anything you want them to be. Each event is run by a Sports Coordinator, a volunteer role open to any students. If you’re interested in running any of the sessions as a Sports Coordinator then contact our VP Wellbeing and Community at vpwellbeing@yorkgsa.org

Free Zumba Sessions
Classes are on the following days of the week
Mondays 6.30pm
Tuesdays 7pm (Zumba Toning – this is Zumba with small maraca like weights – equipment provided. A great way of working on upper body strength)
Thursdays 5.30pm
Location: Department of Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media, Campus East
Classes are FREE and everyone is welcome!

- Tennis balls – over 50
- Tennis rackets – 3
- Shuttlecocks – 24
- Hockey balls – 8
- Hockey sticks – 7
- Squash balls – 4
- Squash racket – 3
- Football tops – full set of training tops
- Volleyballs – selection of will need expert as I remember some not suitable for indoor volleyball (beach only)
- Basketballs – 3
- Badminton set 4 rackets net and shuttlecocks in a case.
- NET suitable for an outdoor racket sport
