Chris Carr

Summary of current role
I currently provide postgraduate students at the University of York with advice on academic and welfare issues such as appeals, misconduct, exceptional circumstances, complaints, supervisor issues and leave of absence.

Previous Experience
I  joined the GSA in May 2021 from Kent Union (at the University of Kent) where I worked as the academic lead adviser. I also supported students on a number of other topics such as housing, finance and student visas. Previous to that, I worked at the University for the Creative Arts Students’ Union as the Advice and Representation Coordinator where I oversaw the Course Rep system and provided academic advice for, HE, UG and PG students on all four of their campuses.

Fun Information
I love paintball and was founder/president of the undergraduate University paintball society in Canterbury, Kent (2012-2015). I’ve recently taken to kayaking and you might spot me up and down the Ouse in warmer weather regretting the fact I forgot to apply sunscreen. I enjoy visiting areas of natural beauty, wine, museums/galleries, historic sites, wine, and I am zombie popular culture fan.
