GSA Awards

Deadline for nominations is the 12th July!

We want to recognise and celebrate the great work of postgraduate students with the GSA Awards!

We encourage everyone who feels they have fulfilled the criteria below to nominate themselves or someone else for an award using the nomination form.

Students, University staff and GSA staff can nominate any postgraduate student that they feel fulfils the criteria. We encourage students to nominate themselves for awards. We welcome you to attach any evidence of meeting the criteria to your nomination.

Awards Criteria 

Academic Representative of the Year Award

Only Academic Representatives are eligible to be nominated for this award. The representative needs to demonstrate that they have proactively suggested improvements or developed strategies to improve the postgraduate experience. They also need to illustrate how their actions have positively impacted students.

Most Active Network Leader(s) of the Year Award

Only Network Leaders are eligible to be nominated for this award. The Network needs to demonstrate that they have undertaken activities to build a sense of community through running events or meetings.

Part-time Officer of the Year Award

Only Part-Time Officers are eligible to be nominated for this award. The Part-time Officer needs to demonstrate that they have actively participated in their role to make important changes for those they represent, this could be through raising awareness, running events, engaging with Council or participation in the wider GSA or University structures.

Inclusivity Advocate Award 

This award is open to all postgraduate students at the University of York. For this award the nominee needs to actively demonstrate a commitment to building inclusive opportunities.

Moreover, they need to illustrate how they have created an inclusive environment, by building respect, compassion and highlighting diverse perspectives.

Event of the Year Award

This award is open to all postgraduate students at the University of York. For this award, the nominee needs to describe an event that they have run, such as a social event or workshop. They need to demonstrate the success of the event through attendance records or positive feedback.

Campaign of the Year Award 

This award is open to all postgraduate students at the University of York. For this award the nominee needs to demonstrate organising and running a campaign and illustrate the rationale for the campaign and its outcome. The campaign will be evaluated for the level of student involvement and through the impact of the campaign.

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award is open to all postgraduate students at the University of York. For this award, the individual needs to have shown a commitment and enthusiasm for volunteering and be able to evidence that they have made a beneficial contribution through their volunteering. This could be volunteering for a charity, within the GSA or  in the local community.
