Captain James Cook Memorial Museum & Statue  – famous British explorer who made the first European contact with the Eastern coast of Australia and the Hawaiian islands. He started his training as a seaman in Whitby. Charges apply for entry to the museum
Whitby Abbey – this is a gorgeous English Heritage site with some of the best views of Whitby. Charges apply for entry to the abbey.
Jet Shops – Jet is one of the earliest gemstones used to create artifacts and jewellery. There are plenty of Jet shops in Whitby
Dracula Experience – This unique tour through the Dracula story and his connection to Whitby. The author Bram Stoker was inspired when visiting Whitby.

Whale Bone Arch – The arch commemorates the history of whaling in Whitby
Climb the 199 Steps – It has been long disputed as to whether there are in fact 199 steps leading up to St Mary’s Church and the Abbey. Why not climb them and count yourself?

The Beach – It wouldn’t be a trip to the seaside without a visit to the beach. Building sandcastles is always fun, you can collect shells and stones to decorate it too. Why not club together and buy a cricket set or rounders bat & ball or frisbee for some classic beach entertainment.

Pleasure Boat Trip – coastal cruises, offers 20 minute trips out of the bay.   Captain cook experience with a replica model of the ship Endeavour also takes to the waters. Charges apply.

Eat Fish & Chips – what else are you going to eat at the seaside other than good old fish & chips! The Quayside was said to be officially the “best” fish & chip shop in Britain by the Guardian back in January 2014. But there are plenty for you to try out!
