8am Leave York (York to settle 59 miles, 1hr 30min)
9.30am Arrive Settle
Spend 1 hr 30mins in Settle
11am Leave Settle (40miles – 1 hr)
12 noon Arrive Bowness on windermere
Bowness on Lake Windermere – it’s a bustling, historic little town and taking a walk around the shoreline where boat builders and repairers can be seen at work is a must. In the centre of Bowness is The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction where the tales of Beatrix Potter are brought to life in a magical indoor recreation of the Lakeland countryside. You can meet Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck and their friends in the only Beatrix Potter themed attraction in Europe. It includes all twenty-three tales by Beatrix Potter which are brought to life complete with sights, sounds and even smells. So you can meet Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor’s garden, discover Jemima Puddle-duck in the woodland glade and visit Mrs. Tiggy-winkle in her kitchen.
You then have the option of taking a cruise across the lake or if you prefer get back on the bus and meet the boat at the other side.
Red cruise, leaves every 20 mins, the boat to Ambleside is a 30 minute crossing or take the bus (optional) (15 min drive)
Ambleside – Beatrix Potter hill top (farmhouse time capsule of her life) hawkshead, ambleside
2.00pm Leave Ambleside
2.15pm Arrive Grassmere – Dove Cottage Wordsworth & Gingerbread Shop (30 min drive)
Keswick – Pencil Museum If we have enough time, back to York -(2hr 45m)
