Wellbeing and Community

At the GSA, we have a dedicated Wellbeing & Community Sabbatical Officer, an Events and Communications Coordinator and an Advice and Welfare Coordinator who foster the community and supports the wellbeing of our postgraduate students. Wellbeing and community are interlinked, however there are distinct activities and services that the GSA offer in relation to each of them.

Wellbeing

We understand that doing a postgraduate degree does not come without its challenges and can sometimes negatively affect your wellbeing & mental health. On these pages, you will be able to explore all of our wellbeing & mental health resources, find out where to access support and learn more about what the GSA can do for you.

Throughout the year, our Wellbeing and Community Officer arranges a variety of wellbeing specific events. There are regular events, such as mediation sessions, wellbeing walks and also ad hoc events, such as for Mental Illness Awareness Week. We regularly receive ideas from current postgraduate students about what wellbeing events they would like to see, thus we welcome you to share your ideas with us, so we can develop events that are suited for our community.

We have a postgraduate specific advice service (link to Advice & Support page), which offers one-to-one appointments with our professional advisor, who can provide free support, advice and guidance on a variety of wellbeing issues. If you are struggling with anything wellbeing-related, even if you are unsure whether this is the right place to come to, book an appointment (link to book an appointment) with our advisor and they will be able to give you your options and assistance about what to do next.

Community

We are continuously finding ways to strengthen our postgraduate community, a feeling of belonging among our diverse population. To do this we have a range of Networks and well as volunteering opportunities.
