About GCRs
While providing key services and organising larger events centrally, the GSA is a federal organisation reflecting the collegiate structure of the University of York.
All colleges with graduate members, and all university residences, have Graduate Common Room (GCR) Committees, which organise smaller local events/activities, and represent members' views both in the GSA and in the College/Residence. As such, all postgraduates can have input with their graduate committee on organising college events, trips, and services. Graduate Committees are funded by the GSA and overseen by the Internal Officer.
Every postgraduate student of the university can associate themselves with any number of graduate committees. Below is a list of departments associated with graduate committees:
