Emergency Loans

Welfare General Help The GSA can provide short-term emergency hardship loans to students who are having financial difficulties. We can lend you up to £100 for a period usually around six weeks.

To be eligible for an Emergency loan, you must:

  • Have consulted with Student Support Services for financial help (they have an emergency loan system like ourselves for a variety of issues, for example if your funding is late) exhausting all other possibilities
  • Be able to prove financial hardship, i.e. recent bank statement
  • Be able to provide evidence of the exceptional circumstance requiring the need for an emergency loan (a loan cannot be provided due to poor financial budgeting).
  • Provide an adequate justification for how the loan will be repaid within 6 weeks
  • Be a current post-graduate student registered on the University's database
  • Have a cheque book and cheque guarantee card to secure the loan.

To apply for an emergency loan please contact the Welfare Officer to arrange a convenient appointment time.

All your information will be kept in the strictest confidence.
