We have 5 Principal Officers who are each paid for 11 hours by the GSA to represent the Postgraduate Community at the University, and a number of Non- Principal Officers who make up different areas of work which the GSA carries out. The President chairs the GSA Executive Committee, has overall responsibility for co-ordinating all its activities, and represents students on specific university committees, including University Council, Senate and Court. In all of these capacities he or she acts as the chief spokesperson for all students.

The Academic Affairs Officer coordinates the Academic Affairs Team, acts as the postgraduate representative on the university committees, represents students at appeals, and liaises with departments and postgraduate academic representatives. This officer is responsible for communicating the work of the team to the GSA membership.

The Welfare Officer is responsible for all non-academic welfare issues affecting postgraduate students, sits on a number of University committees relevant to student welfare and represents students at academic appeals.

The Services Officer has overall responsibility for co-ordinating (in conjunction with the non-sabbatical officers) all the services, events and sports activities that the GSA provides. They also provide the link between the various Graduate Common Room Committees (GCRs) and the GSA.

The Finance Officer liaises with the GSA Manager in administering funds and in ensuring the approved budget is adhered to.

Each department has a number of Postgraduate Academic Representatives to represent the views of students within the department. Three of these representatives attend the GSA Association Council to represent the areas of Science, Social Science and Art and Humanities.
