Researcher Development Team (RDT)We want all our researchers to realise their potential and fulfil their career aspirations – whatever they may be.
“Our aim is to provide all researchers, both research students and research staff (research associates, assistants and fellows) with the support and development opportunities to excel in their chosen fields and careers.
The researcher development team are committed to providing all researchers with a supportive, stimulating and structured framework in which to conduct their research and develop their professional skills and career profile.”


What we do
We provide a comprehensive suite of generic skills for research students and research staff including a dedicated strand of training for Postgraduates Who Teach. 150+ workshops.
We also run several intensive residential events and a number of collaborative events with our White Rose partners.

The RDF, The Concordat and EU recognition
The Research Development Framework (RDF) is a national initiative developed by Vitae in consultation with the research councils.

• The Concordat provides a single statement of the expectations and responsibilities of researchers, their managers, employers and funders. It is a national document with many signatories including Universities UK, HEFCE and the research councils UK. www.researchconcordat.ac.uk

• The University of York was one of the first 10 HEIs to achieve EU recognition which acknowledges their alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.
