Careers Advice

The University Careers Service offers information and guidance to support students preparing to enter the graduate labour market. Students can book 20-minute appointments via the Interactive Careers Service to obtain careers information and advice and to receive CV and job application form feedback. Referral to a longer appointment is also possible.

Careers Service provision also includes an information room with reference materials and literature for students to take away; careers fairs; presentations on various employment sectors; workshops on topics such as how to find employment; practice aptitude tests; information about employment rights, tax and National Insurance; and an e-mail enquiry service. Students are offered a range of activities to gain experience of enterprise and entrepreneurship including workspace for new businesses.
There are also workshop sessions that take place in the porters lodges of colleges across campus and other events such as Careers Fairs - keep an eye on York Extra and the weekly GSA newsletter for more information.
