Welcome to the Academic Section of the website. Postgraduate Students completing taught masters or research degrees make up over a quarter of the student body at York, and it is important their requirements and needs are met to ensure they leave York having achieved their aim – a postgraduate degree.
The GSA work closely with the University to offer academic skills training sessions and organise campaigns to help postgraduates with their studies. We also provide advice, support and representation for students facing academic appeals or disciplinary action.
Our Academic Affairs Team represents the views of Postgraduate Students on a variety of University Committees, including:
- University Teaching Committee
- Standing Committee on Assessment
- Learning & Teaching Forum
- Distance Learning Forum
- Library Committee and Refurbishment Steering Group
We also represent the student body on department quality assurance review visits and annual reviews of all degree programmes, ensuring the courses and research opportunities at York are of a high quality.
