After the success of last year’s Postgraduate Experience Survey, the GSA is again running a large experience survey inclusive of ALL postgraduate students. The survey will be open between Monday 23 July and Friday 24 August 2018.

Each student who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw where we will be awarding five Amazon vouchers worth £100 each.*

Who can complete the survey?

Any postgraduate registered at the University of York can complete the survey. This includes those studying for a Masters, PhD, or distance learners.

Why another survey?

We acknowledge that a lot of surveys take place throughout the University of York. However, very few such surveys are focused on postgraduates.  Currently, on alternate years the University runs two large surveys of postgraduate taught and research students. Whilst useful, this institutional data is confidential and covers a broad range of metrics. The GSA Postgraduate Experience Survey 2018 will be addressing a need for specific data on academic and support & student services at York. This information shall be used to look at issues such as students’ access to finance, dedicated spaces, and will be the only survey measuring the experience of taught postgraduates in 2018. The results will therefore not only shape current and future GSA strategy, but potentially contribute to much wider University policy too.
Reasons to complete the survey

Even if you do not engage with the GSA, live off-campus or are a distance learner this survey is intended to benefit you. We are collecting a large sample of data and want to make sure the widest range of student voices is heard.

The data from this survey will allow the GSA to identify problems affecting postgraduates more precisely. We will also be able to better tailor events, services, and workshops to student interests. Furthermore, if you have experienced difficulties or would like to give praise to the University now is your chance!

Where appropriate, data collected will be feedback to the University to highlight issues raised by students. In the process all your responses will be anonymized.
