Kate’s Blog – New Year, New You?

New Year, New You
This is the year you’ll finally lose those extra pounds, find The One, finish your PhD, become financially solvent, stop calling your parents when you can’t remember how to make Yorkshire puddings —or maybe you’ll achieve all of these! Start the year off right with small, manageable changes to your lifestyle and build up to the big things, here’s all the advice you’ll need for a great 2017!
Okay enough with the motivational mumbo jumbo, I don’t believe any of this. In fact I copied and pasted most of it from somewhere on the internet. And I really hate exclamation marks. Let’s face it, all this ‘New Year New You’ business is absolute nonsense, if you’re anything like me you’ll probably spend 2017 much the way you spent 2016, in your pyjamas drinking gin.
Dammit, did I admit that out loud?
So let’s do away with all of this resolutions rubbish and concentrate on things you might actually do. Here’s some things we’ve got going on (you can even come in your pyjamas):

1.       Tuesday Tea and Coffee

We’re starting a weekly tea and coffee drop in on a Tuesday (during term time) 10.30am- 11.30am in the Vanbrugh SCR. Take a break from work/exams/revision and come and have hot beverages and biscuits on us

2.       Exam Week Snacks

On Wednesday we’ll have fruit and chocolate 10am-4pm in the GSA Office (first floor of Vanbrugh), come and claim yours. We also make a mean cup of tea.

3.       Recipes

We want your cheap, cheerful and healthy recipes for a collection we’re compiling, £20 Amazon token for the best one. Deadline is the 27th January, send them to me at vp@yorkgsa.org

4.       Community Fund

Applications for the GSA Community Fund are now open (and close on the 27th January), if you have a project which would benefit postgrads and needs some funding, get in touch to have a chat about what is available and how to access it.

5.       Puppies

We have puppies coming soon. This is very exciting. More information to follow.
